Integrative medicine combines practices and treatments from alternative medicine with conventional medicine. It treats medical issues with both prescription medication when needed and natural therapies such as vitamins, supplements, herbs, and nutrition counseling.
Yes, bloodwork, and sometimes imaging studies, are ordered to determine nutritional and endocrine imbalances, underlying medical issues, inflammation, and vitamin deficiencies.
Some of the most common issues we address are diabetes, hypertension, cholesterol, Lyme disease, Covid-19, vitamin deficiencies, depression, anxiety, insomnia, obesity, and even anti-aging to name a few.
You will have a detailed evaluation of your medical history, medications, lifestyle, and current medical issues. An in-person visit includes a thorough physical examination, vital signs, and possibly an EKG and urinalysis. Bloodwork and imaging studies may be ordered and recommendations made on supplements, lifestyle changes, and prescription medications if needed.
Follow up visits can be in-person or by telemedicine. The first follow up visit is to discuss results of bloodwork and any imaging studies that were done. We will discuss any changes that are needed based on these results. The timing of your next visit is based on your individual needs.
In addition to encouraging healthy nutrition choices and exercise, we are happy to prescribe weight loss medications. Each patient is different and we will work with you to determine which medication is right for you. Examples include semaglutide (Wegovy, Ozempic, Rybelsus),Mounjaro, acarbose, (Precose), orlistat (Xenical), phentermine, and Contrave.
